Low down of Frankincense Essential Oil

History:

Native to North East Africa, mostly produced in Somalia

Extract:

Extracted from gum resin from the bark of the tree and requires 12 hours to steam distill.

Interesting Fact:

Can cost about $35,000 per ton of Frankincense oil! So if you are purchasing a Frankincense for less than $25-30 than you may want to consider if it has been distilled with solvants.

What it's good for:

Let's talk skin, emotions and respiratory:

  1. Skin: General tonic to all skin types, is balancing to oily skin and is gret for mature skin, smoothing the appearance of wrinkles. Also great for scars and damaged skin.

  2. Emotions: Wonderful for anxiety, emotional exhaustion, depression, insomnia, worry and stress. Also know to be good for weakened immune and chronic fatigue.

  3. Respiratory: Good for asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, coughs, colds and mucos. Great for slowing down and deepening the breath.

Blends well with:

Mostly all oils.
 

 

All essential oils should not be taken internally and best avoided with children and during pregnancy unless you speak with a certified aromatherapist and must always be diluted before applying topically. General safe rule of thumb is 3-4 drops of essential oil to 25ml of carrier oil or 0.5%-1% essential oil in carrier oil.
